Practical Tips for Your Stay
Spring (April–May): Blooming meadows, pleasant temperatures for hiking, fewer tourists
Summer (June–August): Perfect for outdoor activities, swimming lakes, long days. Peak season with more visitors
Autumn (September–October): Colorful foliage, mushroom season, clear views, ideal for hiking
Winter (November–March): Snow-covered landscapes, cross-country skiing, winter hiking, cozy inns
KONUS Guest Card: As an overnight guest, you will receive the KONUS card, which allows you to use public transport free of charge throughout the Black Forest region. Simply ask at our reception desk.
By car: Many excursion destinations are easily accessible by car. However, note that parking at popular destinations fills up quickly – starting early is worthwhile!
By bike: The region offers excellent cycling paths. E-bikes can be rented at many stations.
Check the weather forecast: Black Forest weather can change quickly. Always pack a rain jacket, even if the sun is shining.
Hiking equipment: Sturdy footwear is essential. Hiking poles help on steep climbs. Don't forget plenty of water and provisions.
Dress in layers: Temperatures can vary greatly between valley and summit. Multiple layers are ideal.
Many hiking trails pass traditional Black Forest farms and mountain huts. Here you can enjoy regional specialties and regain your strength.
Tip: Not all huts are open daily. Check opening times in advance or pack a packed lunch.
Particularly recommended are the staffed huts along the Black Forest High Road and in the National Park.
The Black Forest National Park is a protected area. Please observe the following rules:
- Stay on marked trails
- Take your trash with you
- Keep dogs on a leash
- Do not pick or damage plants
- Do not feed or disturb wildlife
- No open fires
